This post has been written for those considering attending an Essex ACES training session without any tournament paintball experience.
The team train on a regular basis, we do that to improve our skills and this has taken a group of committed individuals and formed a strong, supportive team network.
Anyone considering joining may find coming down quite daunting, but I can assure you that the reception given to all new recruits is very supportive. There are a number of reasons for this, which I explain below:
1. We're not Pros, so inexperience is fine!In general, starting up is difficult. There is a need to build basic skills and make the right choices for kit. Most of the team will be able to offer opinions and guidance for those wanting to learn more, and collectively the team will have probably faced your question at some point!
Essex ACEs is also built on taking inexperienced recruits, providing coaching, and developing them into players. Most of the team have followed this pathway, and this strengthens the bonds within the team.
2. DemographicsWe're not all from Essex, but generally live or work close by. Our goal is to build a team spirit that reflects our core values; Attitude, Commitment, Effort = Success
Plus we have a wide age spectrum so as long as you can make your own way to training or events, you could join us! The UK Paintball community is receptive to new players, and we can provide guidance and experience for most questions
3. Low costs of participationBeginning the sport will need some basic paintball kit (goggles and some clothes that you don't mind getting dirty) and the ability to get to the training session. Essex ACEs have tournament capable markers that can be lent to prospective recruits, so you can come down and try tournament paintball. Typically a full day's training session for a new recruit costs approx £50, less than the cost of playing paintball at your local field!
In summary, I hope that this post has reduced any concerns, and has encouraged you to consider attending. The key points to remember are that:
1. No experience is necessary
2. We always welcome new recruits
3. We keep costs to a minimum for new recruits
If you are considering attending a training session, please post up in the Guest Area to be advised on when you could join us. This helps us plan our training sessions more effectively
If there are any further questions, please post a new topic in this forum!
I look forward to meeting you
Alex
